About Synergy Education Trust

Synergy Education Trust is a multi-academy trust based in the North West of England, comprising five schools committed to delivering inclusive, high-quality education. The Trust’s mission is to improve life chances and educational outcomes for all pupils by fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence across its schools.

The Challenge

Synergy Education Trust, which manages five schools, was facing the limitations of outdated and disjointed telephony systems across their sites. Communication between schools was inefficient, management of systems was time-consuming, and they needed a future-proof solution that would simplify operations and provide flexibility for staff.

They required a centralised, secure, and scalable communications platform to unify all sites and improve day-to-day contact between staff, parents, and external stakeholders.

What We Did

LIV Unified Comms delivered a bespoke cloud-hosted phone system, centralised across all schools within the trust.

Hosted PBX on AWS Cloud
A virtual Yeastar PBX was deployed on an EC2 instance within Amazon AWS, ensuring a high level of scalability, redundancy, and security.

Unified SIP Trunks & Handsets
137 Yealink handsets were installed across the schools, including a mix of mobile, desktop and web application endpoints. SIP trunking was implemented using truSIP for resilient and cost-effective voice communication.

Advanced Features
Auto attendants were configured to streamline call routing, alongside custom call recording capabilities for safeguarding and quality assurance.

Staff Training
Comprehensive on-site and remote training ensured all staff were confident using the new system from day one.

Ongoing Support
LIV continues to provide proactive support and system maintenance, giving the trust peace of mind and guaranteed SLAs.

The Result

Synergy Education Trust now benefits from a seamless communications system that unites all five schools under one platform. Calls can be transferred easily between sites, administrators have centralised control, and the hosted solution provides the flexibility for future growth and remote access. The SET project showcases how cloud technology, when combined with the right design and delivery, can transform communications across a multi-site educational environment.
